Vintage Mountain Grown Sencha 2016

(1 customer review)

A healthy natural tea doesn’t go bad, it ages.

Even green tea can age, but only if the original raw leaf is of a natural, non-artificial produce. Nature imbues the leaf with a natural energy and flavor components that gradually settle overtime. This allows the tea to gradually release less desirable tastes, and to improve on its qualities.

Although this tea has now been ageing for 3 years, it still gives a bright green liquor. It’s flavor and aroma have become matured and have rounded and mellowed to the point where a velvety smooth, almost milky, sweet taste has been obtained. Regardless, it has also maintained its lightly menthol characteristics.

Origin: Tsukigase, Nara, Japan (single estate).
Farmer: Fumiaki Iwata.
Cultivar: Nara native cultivar.
Harvest: Spring 2016.
Type: Mountain grown organic sencha green tea / loose leaf.
Additional impressions: Sweet rounded taste, a hint of nettle, fills the mouth with flavor and lingers on the back of the tongue with a mild aroma.
