Set of two tea cup siblings and a tea cruet.
The cups and cruet are inscribed with the characters for ‘fukuju’ (福寿) which is a wish for happiness and prosperity in life.
The characters used are old variations of the original Chinese characters used to write the words.
Of the latter character ‘kotobuki’ (寿), there conventionally are 100 different ways of writing that can be chosen from.
Here the artist has chosen 5 variations to calligraph onto the utensils randomly through each other.

This is an absolutely wonderful set! Each piece is unique and the theme of happiness, prosperity, and luck is delightful, making exploration of the details meditative. The pieces are all lightly textured, which is a satisfying feel. The color of the glaze showcases the color of the tea beautifully while still having just enough variance to not fully disappear in the background. Folks who love to host might appreciate them not only as tea tools, but as conversational art pieces while still retaining a cozy feel.

The thin walls of both the cups and the pitcher make them extremely well suited for hotter teas, allowing the liqueur to cool quickly. All of the pieces are very lightweight, making them an excellent choice for someone who has trouble with their wrists and finger joints.

The fairness cup is very good. The pour is consistent and does not drip once righted. It has a slight tilt to one side that makes it a very good match for a right handed pour, though it is comfortable in the left hand as well. The shape, which when viewed from above looks like a classic gourd, is well chosen. The indents in the side make an excellent grip at a comfortable distance, and it feels really good and stable even in my tiny hands.

This set is an absolute pleasure to use, and I am thrilled to have it as part of my personal tea tool rotation.
